    Re: Paul Burgess

I have just watched the jump on the TV news, and on his attempt at 6.00m he had plenty of height, but came down on the bar. On that performance 6m is not far away - perhaps next Thursday at the GP2 meet where is will be competing against Markov (5.60 recently in Adelaide). It will depend on the winds at Melbourne's Olympic Park.

I'm not sure which impresses me more: his hip height over 6m or Becca's tag line, "I'm in charge"!

            LOL *blushes*

I might be getting some video of his jump online around Tuesday.

              Re: Paul Burgess

It may be of interest to know that at the same meet, the coach of Paul Burgess, Alex Parnov, had more success when his daughter, Vicki, who turned 14 last October, cleared 4.00m, and her younger sister Liz, cleared 3.00m, both PBs.

A 14 year old girl cleared 13'? Dang.

V.Parnov's 4m doesn't quite make the grade as world best for a 14 year old, but she has about 8 months tom improve the 15 cm needed:

Adn that's her little sister knocking off her age records as she goes...

And Dmitri Markov cleared 5.75m over the weekend to set up a big clash with Burgess in Melbourne tomorrow night:

Paul Burgess seems to have recovered from the injury that prevented him from competing throughout the summer. He vaulted 5.70m at the weekend (the same height he cleared in his first competition of 2005).

At the same meet, Vicky Parnov (mentioned above) who equalled the age-14 world best with 4.15m last year, improved to 4.20m (although she's 15 now).
