I sometimes like to dive into the Track and Field
World statistics, especially during the post-
olympic years, in search for unknown emerging new
names.
I also like to follow their maturations, en route
for a hypothetical international glory.
And while watching the depths of the long-jump
lists, I was quite surprised to see no top very
promising young (I mean born after 1985) US
talent.
Where is the US reservoir that will perpetuate
its glorious tradition?
Are the times when a young 19 years-old Carl
LEWIS could jump a fantastic 8m50 gone?
I feel quite nostalgic of the day I discovered
an unknown young name (in Europe...) whose 8m74
where a sismic performance... it wasn't a long
time ago. And it was of course about Eric WALDER.
