The July T&FN deserves a big OOOPS for its prep coverage when it calls AOC mile champ Sam Vazquez from Flagler-Palm Coast (Bunnell, FL), "unheralded" (p.44) and in its photo caption on the next page says he "surprised" some big names.... With the exception of Steve Magness, who, may I ask, had better claim than Vazquez to favorite status prior to the race? He had run 3:47.63 at FSU back in March and 3:48.01 at the McDonnell Invite in April plus a 4:05.46 mile at the Minnesota Distance Classic just 6 days before AOC.
