What happened to Elzie Coleman? I thought he was in Miss St. but he is not on their roster and I figured the hs US indoor 400 m record holder would be making some splashes this year. I was just informed after posting this thread that he would join the team in the spring season but why wouldn't he run the winter season? Write back with any info on this subject.

Re: Where is Elzie Coleman?

Mullings had a "positive" at the Jamaican Championships, but the IAAF has never issued any kind of formal sanction notice, so we have to assume there were/are some kind of ajudication problems (including the possibility that he never had a positive). Meanwhile, recent MSU release says they have high hopes for him this season.

Re: Where is Elzie Coleman?
He will compete this weekend.
This is from Mississippi State web site.
We think this is the best men’s team we’ve ever had," said MSU Head Coach Al Schmidt. "Our goal is to be ranked in the top 10 nationally. It’s a real promising season ahead."
State returns three all-Americans from last season’s squad. Seniors Jamel Ashley and LaChristopher Lewis, and sophomore Arthur Davis were named all-Americans as members of the 4x400-meter relay team in 2004. Ashley was also an all-American in the 400-meter dash. Newcomers Steve Mullings, a junior college all-American from Barton County (Kansas) CC, and high school all-Americans Elzie Coleman, from Newburgh, N.Y., and Adian Sanderson, from Ewing, N.J., will provide depth to the men’s sprints team.
