    USAToday is having a poll for the 75th Sullivan Award, best amateur athlete in the USA. There is to be three phases of voting. One is through the USAToday poll. I found the poll on USAToday's sports front page.

          Okay, I just voted. I bet Jeremy would have a lot more of those gold medals if they held 350m and 450m races, 400m from a standing start, 400m starting with the right foot forward.....

          Swimmers just don't differ that much from one race to the next, certainly over similar distances. Now if Phelps had won both sprints and say, the 1500m freestyle, I might have had to reconsidr my vote.

            I understand the argument is quality over quantity. But Phelps is high up there on the quality scales too.

            Needless to say, I voted for Wariner since we need some positive PR.

              You are right about Phelps' quality. No point in me denegrating swimming just because I have a preference for athletics. Even a Kentucky boy knows there are other sports out there.....like basketball.

              I know tafnut, I saw the game yesterday. That David Lee has become every bit of the player I thought he would.
