Well she kinda got a mention a few posts above. Don't know what the point of that actual post was, though.

This medical diagnosis might be true.
However, the main reason for not mentioning her on this thread is that she isn't and never was a part of the current "Golden Age" as she competed for Sweden before this era even began.
So she is rather illustrating the un-Golden Age status of indigenous Swedish athletics in the late 90's.

Re: Golden Age for Swedish Track and Field?

Well, if 1948 is too long ago, let's move forward to the mid and late 50's. Bengt Nilsson was maybe the world's best HJer in 54 and 55. Then there was Richard Dahl, Stig Pettersson a bit later. Stickan was on or near the top for a number of years. And how about Dan Waern in '58 and later. He came close to acctually beating Elliott in Elliot's best year 1958. How about Owe Jonsson in 1962 not to mention Richard Bruch.
But Powell is right about lack of depth even if they have a good group of promising youngsters. With a population of 8mill, Soccer and Hockey is a huge drain on talents. But they are a unique and diversified sporting nation with Ingemar Johansson, Bjorn Borg, Stefan Edberg, Annika Sorenstam etc.

          Let's not forget Anders Gärderud!

Per Andersen, you asked about Petrina Price. Can't find out anything. She didn't appear in the Oz national Champs last weekend.

Thank, Olegi2. I know she jumped 1.93 in '04. Let's hope she comes back. It has been too long since female Aussies were at the top level in the HJ.
