  • Seneca Lassiter & Krummenacker

I had no idea that Seneca Lassiter has been running so well until this year. He actually posted the 4th fastest ever US indoor 1500m last year. Even more surprising he is on the top ten list for fastest US 1500m. What has happened to him this year? Someone on this forum said he ran a slow 3:50 1500 meters this past spring.

Can you imagine how much US 1500 meter fortunes would improve if Lassiter and Krummenacker where in top form.

Has Lassiter been injured this year? To go from a 3:33 to a 3:50 in 18 months means he must be hurt.

If you look carefully there are always little surprises like Lassiter among US distance runners.
The press has been so preoccupied in covering Alan Webb that they have over looked more deserving runners like Lassiter.

Well he (Lassiter) didn't do himself any favors last year by showing his irresponsibilty (no other word for it) in the World Cup last year.

      Re: Seneca Lassiter & Krummenacker

I am just getting back into following distance running after a five year hiatus.

What the hell did Lassiter do. The US sports press ignores track and field so I don't know the little inside stories in track and field.

this is not the 'whole' story, but Lassiter, after finishing last in the Grand Prix Final, decided his season was effectively over, even though he was our lone representative for the World Cup (an IAAF meet where national scores do count, as opposed to the OG and WC), he didn't give up his spot to someone who COULD effectively represent the USA. Meanwhile Bernard Lagat, his 'club' teammate was trying to devise ways to beat El G. So Lassiter offered to pace Lagat in attempt to beat El G. After his rabbiting chores were done, he jogged in, in last place (for the USA). Suffice it to say, team officials were less than pleased that their racer was the rabbit and didn't even TRY to place. I never saw the official senction (it dragged on for a while), but he was reprimanded and apologized profusely. I attribute it to bad 'good intentions' and immaturity. No malice was intended but much taken.

Sounds like an act totally lacking in class. He did apologize.

This is the kind of story you would never find in USATODAY. The main stream sporting press hardly acknowledges track and field. Of course they will follow it during the Olympics.

Ron Jeremy has a higher name recognition in this country than any elite distance runner.

As well he should considering the performance of American distance runners.

Lassiter? Scum. Anyone American who would sacrifice points or placing that could benefit the US team in order to help a "clubmate" from another country isn't worth spit. He should have been suspended for a year. Hopefully he'll get clobbered at the Oly Trials in order to have even more time to ponder his classless actions at the World Cup.

BTW - El G wasn't in the World Cup last year.

Maybe this explain Lassiters poor times this year. There are bad vibes around him at the starting line.

Ron Jeremy is the Mickey Mantle or Carl Lewis of his field. He is the king. Actually, he is quite a charming fellow and has a good sense of humor about his profession.

Was Lassiter's decision to pace Legat really that dishonorable??? I don't see it that way! It's not like he made any deliberate effort to disrespect his country, he was just ignorant of what was expected of him!

He was ignorant of what the country expected of him????!!! He knew exactly why he was on the team - to score as many points for the USA as he could. I can forgive him his irresposibility, but there's no way that he was unclear as to why he was there.

LIKE he was in the running anyway! He probably did score as many points as he could

You probably have a bigger collection of tapes with Ron Jeremy on them than you do with track meets.

If I was going to watch a porn flick, I sure wouldn't want to see Ron Jeremy's ugly hairy ass all over the screen! I prefer "porn for track fans" like "Personal Best"!
