  • Kenyan Phenom

Saw some results from the world youth games in
Sherbrooke, Canada. Augustine Choge of Kenya has
run 29:06 for 10,000 meters as a 15 year old.
He has run the equivalent of a 4:00 mile at 16
    (3:43 for 1500 meters). Ouch

Well, they say he's 16 - that means he's probably 19 - 22. Kenya breeds runners, but the Kenyan Federation breeds lies when it comes to the ages of some of their "junior" competitors. The pictures of the Kenyan "jr" squad at the World XC champs are priceless at the IAAF website. For the 2003 meet, it looks like none of the runners are under 23.

Please stop slandering individuals whom you do not know. If you have proof, please present it. If not, be quiet.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Can you really distinguish an 18-year old from a 23-year old?

Man, that question is the height of disingenuousness. Maybe Ray Charles would have a hard time ...

You only have to have iron clad proof to make drug accusations-no matter how painfully obvious. Everything else is fair game from what I have seen.

In any event, those of us who are here in Sherbrooke have all been extremely impressed by this kid.

Do you really want people (lots of them) saying bad things about you behind your back, with absolutely no facts to back up their malice?
