World Record DMR race(nation vs. nation)

Has anyone ever though of putting onE of these on at say a meet like Penn Relays or PRE. I ran an OLYMPIC DEV. DMR there many moons ago where they brought in Team Footlocker(Reina, Reynolds, etc, etc)....but that was about it.

Imagine Kenya, USA, Algeria, Morocco, Canada, GBR, and a few other nations. It would be amazing...USA could go Krumm, Wariner, and number of guys on the 400, and then WEBB!!!!

Great stuff Rod,

Canada folds pretty quickly
Russia needs a better lead off and anchor, but they've got the 400 and 800 covered
France looks good as do many of the other nations with great runners

I could see legs of 2:50, 44, 1:44, 3:50 and I think that is pretty conservative....that comes out around 9:08...smokin...even toss in some top Universities(Arkansas and U of M) and you could have 10 teams below 9:30...what a race.

I think you could go as low as 2:47 on the 1200s for most of those guys and still be reasonable. Willis and about 3 other guys went between 2:49-2:50 two years ago at Penn, and he wasn't a 3:32 guy then.

That would a great lead off with so many guys able run in that range...

I could find a WR for the DMR, does anyone know of a world best mark for that race?

Arkansas's 9:20.10 from 1989 is the world best.

I guess this is a silly question, considering the US bias on this site (which is understandable), but should the scrap the 4x4 and replace it with a DMR at major champs? The only down side is that they normal have the 1500m final on the last few days (unless ElG is going for the double 15/5) and this may leave them flat for the DMR. 4x4's are awesome, but a close DMR can't be matched. Bring it on I say

I love the DMR as much as the next guy, but there's not a chance the typical DMR provides as many exciting finishes as the 4x4. A 4x800, on the other hand, would be excellent. Too much of the DMR lies on the anchor's shoulders anyway. I've rarely, if ever, seen a DMR won on the shoulders of the first three legs.
