why NOT go back to a one-turn stagger for the 400 ? It would turn track's worse race for the fans into one of the best !
Does anyone disagree that in watching a 400, you barely know what's happening until they come off the last turn ? Crummy for the fans watching. Let 'em fight for position down the backstretch, then fan out coming for home. What a great race to watch. And you might even get FASTER times as they'll sure haul *** down that backstretch to have the pole going into the turn.

I know what you mean...but it makes it exciting that's what that open 400m is all about...indoor open they do that but outdoor you better stay in your lane.
