Are you guys aware that Mac ran a 9.96w, and 9.91w at the last Canadian Champs. The pressure will be down for him, because of his recent troubles at the GP meets, and he will relax. Athletes like Mac tend to peak at their own championships i.e Marcin Jedurski of Poland (10.07w,20.38w) and Shingo Suetsugu (10.03). The colligate sprinters are always tired by now. I think we will see a fast 100m. None of these guys will do anything at the Worlds.

Macro must be made of lighter stuff than most people (no, that's not a skin joke). Look at his seasonal bests:

            1999--10.33 windy
            2000--10.18 high altitude
2001--10.20 (legal! how did that slip in? :-)
2002--9.91 windy, legal best 10.25 at altitude
            2003--10.03 high altitude

Or is it just that the Canadian federation is exceeding good at shipping him to places where he can beat the game (i.e., get A standards) by taking advantage of the wind/altitude situation?

He might be good at it but I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with AC. They barely get involved with funding teams to go places let alone individuals.

They sure did, just 2or 3 years ago. They had altitude camps at Flagstaff for several seasons where everybody who was anything got 4 or 5 chances to run sprints day in and day out so they could get on some team or other. Of course lots of these people never came close to these times at sea level. Believe it or not they even sent Hammer throwers to Flagstaff.

I could be wrong but I don't think that was something that was funded by AC.

Windy bests don't do him much good as far as achieving qualifying standards is concerned. Anyway, if you look at US sprinters, a lot of them run their fastest times wind- or altitude-aided. Obviously, if these factors help you, it means you will be more likely to run faster at altitude or with strong headwind, so even you only get 1 or 2 such races per season, the chances are pretty good that you will run your SB in one of them.

Mac does run good with wind, and at altitude, but that doesn't say much. He has been training full time for a while now, and the other 2 college guys are running just as good as him, going to school as well

Well, actually, no they don't. At least not on a quick search. I originally showed that in 4 of the last 5 seasons Macro had his best time w/ either wind or altitude aid. So now I looked at the top 5 U.S.-ranked sprinters of last year, and here's how many of the last 5 years they had a windy/altitude mark as their fastest of the year.

                        Macro 4

                        Montgomery 2
                        Mo 1
                        Drummond 1
Miller 1 (didn't run one year)
                        Williams 0

Can I pick races or WHAT! I predicted Mac would win in 10.08, and he won in 10.13. I was only .05 off. I knew he would peak at these championships and the college guys would be tired. Browne ran a good race though.

                              good race

It was a good race, but Henry had a stumble out of the blocks. It could have turned out different. No excuse though.
