  • Articles Requiring Registration

BH, can you do us all a favor and have a notation by all the articles linked on the home page that require registration? I just tried to read two Clement articles and both required a pain-in-the-ass registration, replete with many 'Free Offers!'. I know there is a web-site that will give you a generic pass through, but these registrations are often not even worth the bother, not to even mention the spamming possibilities.

I know I'm expecting something for nothing and SHOULD be thankful for the info available, but I see where the internet is going and I already miss the good old 'free' days.

Scroll to the bottom of the page:

The '**' after an article title means that it requires registration. And remember, for those that do require it, simply use:

I guess I could just edit out my STUPID request, but I'd rather just **blush**, he said, slinking back into his hole.

I think I'll bump this up every few days. I've made a few doozies myself but usually catch them and edit them before they get this far. Thanks again for the edit function.

I think that this entry is worthwhle to highlight the issue. For these ** starred items, I wish someone would provide at least a very brief summary as a message board thread. You could quote a line or so and provide a couple of key things.

You could also use that site Jon gave us or just register with an email account that you don't use(my choice). Better get used to it because everyone will go that way eventually.

                  Re: Articles Requiring Registration

No. Tafnut is so good, that his "mistake" makes someones top-of-list on things learned and becomes the epitomy of an unusual lack of knowledge (compared to what else he knows). I think this is another complement. If not, let me comlement you directly in general for all of your posts.

P.S., I went to a regular HS meet for the first time in decades (4?) yesterday; it was interesting. The students raking the pit smoothed it by digging out the rough landing area after each jump. By the time practice jumps were made and a few in competition (when I arrived), there was a hole well over a foot deep. I gently mentioned the effect to the rakers and a near-by coach. It must have been one of the coldest meets I have been at, with temperatures in the 44-47 range and a breeze as well (my HS meets in So. California were NEVER close to this). I say this because Tafnut's posts are starting to push me to help officiate HS meets (see, more positive influence).

wow - then this thread is one of the few worthwhile ones I've ever started! Please do go help. The very fact that you post on this site makes you better than 92% of the officials I've had to deal with.

And thanks for salving my wound. The brand of salt that MJD rubs into it is beginning to sting! :-)
