  • Maria Mutola in Madrid

Maria exploded today.1:55.55 for the win. She did this without Stephanie Graf,Jearl Miles-Clark,Dianne Cummings, and Jolanda Ceplek in the field. Somebody's getting ready for Paris!

Also of note- Averbukh goes 5.93/19'5 1/2" and Grant Robison hits a handy 3:36.

Maria's time is her best since 97, and only Ceplak has also broken 1:56 since 97.

Wilson Kipketer was 3rd in 1:45.03 in his first race of the year.

      Suzy won in 4:02.89.

Martinez topped both Cantwell and Toth with a mere 68-9.

I'd like to see a chromosome test done on Mutola. I'm only half joking, of course. Took a good look at her at the Mt. Sac Relays years ago and could have sworn she was a he. Yeah, there have been others like that in track, but she's one of the most visible today.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw Graf AND Mutola looking like a couple of behemoths compared to Cummins at a race lately-note the correct spelling of Cummins.

Not Wilson's first race. He previously ran 1:46+

Wignall, 13.39 is not very impressive and the field he beat wasn't to impressive either.

Now Bershawn Jackson...he's a medal threat in Paris.

Also watch Donica Merriman. She's beginning to impress. First the 12.65, followed by 12.69...not bad.

I wasn't referring to in Paris. I was talking about in general.
