Sure . . . if the best marathoners could be paid enough to go to those courses. As long as Chicago and London have the most cash, they'll get the best runners.

Try the Marathon race.... you know, the one from Marathon to Athens. It must be a very hard race (although for whatever reason it has not been tried by any of the current big Marathon names... as far as I know that is). By the way, it has been suggested in the past for this race to be the only race where a world marathon record can be recognized.

I suppose a WR could potentially be set by a runner with ankle weights, but why? Obviously, all things being equal, the fastest courses are going to allow the fastest times. Anyone really chasing a WR is going to make their course choice (choice course?) accordingly.

All of the fastest times are being run on the same courses--Paris, London, Rotterdam, and Chicago.

I know the marathon (over any course) is tough. But I would love to have someone run a 2:06 and change (or 2:05) in New York or Boston. I ran New York, and those bridges and Central Park Hills are no joke. But I still think world records (or world leading times) could be done. Any thoughts? Peace.
