Dave Johnson would like me to report that Cragg's first 800 of the 1600 in the DMR (2:12) was slower than Shalane Flangan's (2:10)

For those who don't know, Cragg's lame strategy allowed everyone back in the race, and Brannen outkicked everyone for a Michigan upset.

BillCarr, keep the updates coming! Thanks for the on-the-spot reports. What was Cragg thinking? Sure, he's run 3:39 this year, but Brannen's a 1:46.00 guy. Hopefully they'll show some of this event (not likely) on the TV coverage tomorrow.

This is of course way after the fact, but the collegiate 4x100 might have been the best I've ever seen in terms of depth.

Consider Houston. In sub-par conditions of drizzle and a wet track, they clocked 39.84 . . . and finished FOURTH !

Miss State 39.20 with not so great "sticks"
      Texas 39.35
      TCU 39.77
      Houston 39.84
      Florida 40.07
      Purdue 40.56

I was there. Great meet, despite the weather. Very fast times, despite the weather!!!! Poly runs 7:43 and 3:11 in the 4x8 and 4x4!!!! Great meet. And you know why Penn's the greatest track meet in the World? They have 15,000 athletes, rain and cold, and they are still on schedule. Peace.
