Re: Kenya 800m Trials
800m
1 Japheth Kimutai 1:43.71
2 Justus Koech 1:44.16
3 Nicholas Wachira 1:44.34
4 Joseph Mutua 1:44.51
Hard to believe it but Kenya is going to leave Mutua at home for Worlds. He's had one heck of a first half of the season. Has Kenya gone to the top X finishers at Nationals go to Worlds selection system, like the US?

Re: Kenya 800m Trials
Yes, Kenya has the same trials system as the US. Only the top 3 make it (or defending world champions). To leave Mutua behind..?..Sammy Kipketer and Benjamin Limo will be at home also.
I feel the IAAF should step in and just say to all of its participant countries, "Send us your 3 list leaders from the past year in every event that have met the "A" standard."

Re: Kenya 800m Trials
not always the best racers... but Mutua has been racing early and often (maybe too often) and winning frequently against solid competition. I just remember the Kenyan system to be like the Brits where your placing at Nats is important but not the "be all and end all."

Re: Kenya 800m Trials
That is why everyone, and I mean everyone (even stateless athletes), who has reached a A limit should participate to WC and OG. Those games should be for the athletes first, not the countries. Lower limits or no limits can be used for the not so advanced countries as it is now.
