I love KR - ran from the front all the way - 1:45 isn't stunning - but he did all the work.

Hmm, blast Webb at 3:41, but love Robinson at 1:45.

    Uh, ok.

It just seems like carson isn't a place to run fast times over 400 meters. that headwind kills when you have to run more than one lap. KD seems like he can go top 3 in helsinki.

you missed my point - KR gave it everything he had from the get-go! Webb did NOT - nuff said!

Khadevis was well inside the WCh 'A' qualifer. Webb was far from it.

So, 'giving it everything you have' constitutes running a positive split race from the front?

            Win is a win........?

All I want is that the winner gives a 100% effort on that given day. Webb's was far from it, and he knew he could have won from the front or back.

                Re: m800

Without the wind his winning time would probably been in the high 1:44s. Another 800-meter star is born. I think the US could have two runners in the 800 meter finals.

Krummenacker comeback was amazing. If he has the strength to do this I believe he is in at least 1:44 condition. Going into the last lap he was in 9th place and he ended up in 2nd. That is the kind of thing Jim Ryun used to do. The question now is why did he do this? Maybe he was testing his kicking speed for Helsinki. If he can get out of this jam he can get out of just about anything.

I just think that Krumm is rusty from not racing all that much. Was not the Home depot meet his first of the outdoor season? Considering that and I believe he said that he really had not done much speed training so he really could be in line to run some fast times come August. Get a few more races underneath him to sharpen him up and he should fly.

                    Re: m800

I wonder what KD would run if he went out in 51 mid to 52 flat first 400. I know he is "comfortable" going out in 49-50 first 400 and hanging on for the last 400, but to go out in 50.99 and come back in 54.xx is too much of a difference and shows a lack of strength. I know he led the entire way but looking at his last 100m (more his last 55m), he was crawling. If Krum was not in dead last until the last 300m, he would have put KD away. Krum is definitely to stronger of the two. And as for Hicks, not bad for a 20 year old and very impressive come back from NCAA's. He's the one to watch over the next 5+ years.

No American has finished better than 3rd in a world championships. And only 3 have made the top 3. Hope someone breaks that mark soon.

I'd have to disagree. Wottle won the OG, when it WAS the de facto WC.

NO! I'm just talking about WC not olympics. you know, the odd year championships, track's own mini olympics. Trivia: who are the only men in olympic history to win the 800 in twice? what about get 2nd twice?

IIRC, the winners would be Mal Whitfield and Peter Snell - but that's purely from memory. (Did El Caballo do it too??)

No idea about silver, unless it was Seb Coe ...

Robinson has been US ranked in the 800 since 1998.
