    Women's 400m
    1. Lorraine Fenton (Jam) 49.88sec
    2. Tonique Williams (Bah) 50.66
    3. Sanya Richards (USA) 51.03

Pre-race favourite Lorraine Fenton runs a superb race to destroy the rest of the field and record an easy win. The Jamaican athlete keeps her cool with Tonique Williams finishing ahead of American teenager Sanya Richards and Briton Lee McConnell back in fifth.

Good job by Richards. She opened her summer season pretty well. Good job Demetria Washington too. She is getting closer and closer to running sub 51. I think the US 4x400 will be better than people think. With Hennegan back in decent form (51.4, 51.8 in her last two races) and Trotter about to get some relay running in (at Pan Ams, she is running anchor leg), the US should be just fine.

The IAAF lists the third placer as Sandie Richards of Jamaica, not the teenager Sanya.

Sanya Richards-USA was third. Regardless of what Guevera runs tonight Fenton will be right there in Paris. She looks so smooth and relaxed, plus she handles rounds very well.

I saw Guevera all-out today running 50.3sces. Fenton raced to a facile 49.88 secs today. She (Guevera) is no clear favourite in my book. I'll go with the Jamaican.

running rounds will make it interesting...

clearly, guevara has a ton of strength, so I suspect the rounds won't be too difficult for her..

              Fenton, I can't reliably say....

              seeing will be believing...

              good luck to both...

              and may the fastest win!!

what a bunch of rubbish when you speak of rounds and say of Fenton running rounds "i can't relaibly say". Let me remind you that Fenton is the most medalled 400m runner in the last 6years factoring in Olympic Games and World Champs and this just in, they run rounds at the Olympics and World Champs.
