I've got the "shakes" just from reading this. It broke late Sunday Night...SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) -- Surinam's only Pan American Games medalist, 800-meter champion Letitia Vriesde, was stripped of her gold Sunday after testing positive for excessive caffeine.

Vriesde, 38, the defending champion who also ran at the 2000 Olympics, was her country's first Pan Ams champion when she won at Winnipeg. She's also won silver and bronze medals at the world championships.

It was the first failed doping test at the games.

Pan American Sports Organization president Mario Vasquez Rana said the amount of caffeine in her system was equivalent to "five gallons of coffee," and that Vriesde admitted her guilt.

That's probably one No-Doz capsule. There's got to be more nefarious ways to 'cheat.'

      1 No-Doz (200mg caffeine) = ~1.5 cups of coffee

SeƱor Rana is exagerating (this is an understatement). There is no way one could function with that amount.

3 No-Doz with a cup of coffee would definitely create a buzz.

If Bubba is right (and I've no reason to doubt it), she would have had to have taken 13 or 14 No-doz pills or something similar to reach the equivalent of five gallons of coffee. It's hard to imagine anyone doing that.

Oh, shit. I just thought about this further. I was thinking five quarts. The equivalent of five gallons would be 53 no-doz pills. That sounds like a lethal dose to me.

Does the name [nah, i can't do it] ring a bell? Before they put restrictions on caffeine there was a rather large gentleman whose pre-competition routine including gobbling enough Vivarin to stun a water buffalo.

I once took 10 no-doz/vivarin (Yea, I know, dont say it. I was studying in college), and I got extremely ill and I was 6'3 280. Five and a half gallons of water would kill her much less coffee.
