  • Darold Williamson's chances in the 400.

I think he has an excellent shot of beating
Wariner. He is the only one to train with him
on a regular basis.Darold has also beat him a
few times this season.I see him possibly pulling
off the biggest upset off the W.Champs.

DW beat JW when DW was further along in his training for the year because of the NCAA/USATF double, then needs to peak again for the WCs. JW was confident enough that he started sharpening later and only had to prepare for, not really peak, for the USATF/trials. I sus pect that the races since then have been designed in their training for specific purposes and we will see how it works out. JW is not afraid to lose to DW, but not here. Of course, this is just my guess.

I like the underdogs & Williamson is not much of
one.If not for Wariner,he would probably be the
favorite.Rock has a outside chance but I see
      D.Williamson getting the gold.

Tim Bejamin 44.85 :-) - outside bet for a medal?

a bit nervous seeing Tim Benjamin running so quick so early (only 1/10th outside PB)

Hopefully its an indication he is in form to smash his PB rather than peak too soon

Bejamin looked easy, shut down last 15. Wariner 45.24. Looked OK, very conservative bend.

so if Benjamin gets it all right we could see a British record...............

                I hope so too.

I think his time in London wasn't really reflective of the form he is in. Look at the times from the men's and women's 400m and everyone ran a few tenths below what they should have been running (based on current form). In better conditions (or whatever it was holding back the quarter milers that day) he could have probably run 44.4 - 44.5 that day.

That said, his run this morning was bloody impressive. He was clearly pushing and working hard in the London race, but this 44.85 seemed to come so easily for him. There's definitely more in the bag.

could the wind we saw in the M200m be affecting the running...hence some of the conservative times?

How did Rock look today? He ran a good time.
I think it's the 3 Americans and Benjamin, with Wariner getting the gold.

I think Williamson is going to be right there with Wariner going sub 44 or very near 44flat... it will be a "WarinerOHarrislike" finish... either could win ....as for 3rd .. Would have to slightly favor Rock.. with Simpson,Benjamin,Christopher, a meter behind... sounds Athenslike. ... The big question is then can Rock fill the shoes of Brew?

.. interesting though that it looks like UK will have a strong showing in the 4X4 and we can can now expect to see another team get under 2:59.... again recall Brews split... is there someone to fill those shoes?... will it be Merritt?
... nothing really ever changes my friend, new lines for old, new lines for old.

...absolutely nothing to lose. Overheard saying "I'm just glad to be on the same track with such talent."

Most importantly, I don't think DW would see it as an upset at all. I am reinforcing your point that he seems to see JW as just another guy.
