    Re: Mens decathlon WC2005

So far Clay has cleared 490, while RS has cleared 480 and passed 490. It looks like Clay is hitting all the heights to protect his lead, which would be a good strategy in this weather.

[edit] It is now final for these two as Clay picks up 30 points rather than losing them. His chances are improving with two events to go.

      that's an excellent point

      i wondered why he didn't go 4.60, 4.80, 5.00...

he's not only a superb athlete but got the mind of a steel-trap

        has the projected finish>at
        Seberle 8825
        Clay 8725<<

What a turn-around! Now the projection is

        Clay 8829
        Seberle 8629

        a 300 point switch!!

LOL - Shaun just quoted Steve's comment from 20 years ago, "The decathlon is nine mickie mouse events followed by the 1500m"! Steve didn't reply...

Clay just clobbered the field in the JT 72.00m, with all three of his throws better than anyone elses. He now has a total of 8194 and a lead of about 360 points.

Looks like Sebrle would have to beat Clay by about a minute. I'm guessing that ain't gonna happen.

Shaun has been the very pleasant "surprise" of the coverage. It's a pleasure to hear a newish voice with so much relevant stuff to offer.
