Simple question for the expert sprinters. Who won the Pan Am 400? Why was there such a surprise that Potter and Steele, at the NCAA can do this race?

Re: Who says white men can't sprint?
They are both outstanding sprinters. I think they
will compliment Tyree Washington for the future
in the 400 for the U.S. Don't forget about Jeremy
Wariner, hes only a sophmore and ran a 45.03 last
year in his freshman year in college at Baylor.
Another name to watch is Drew Morano.

It was 45.13, not 45.03, and it was at Tempe, which has some altitude. Still an athlete with great potential, to be sure.

I believe white men can sprint , i think they were just intimidated by black peoples dominance of track , but now they are starting to see that they to can be world class sprinters oh and big up to Jermey Wariner cuz i was at pan am champs and he was impressive

Re: Who says white men can't sprint?
Matt Bruno is done. He simply can not adjust to the level of competition. He may have been the Cali state champ in the 1 and the 2, but last year he struggled to run 10.6 and 21 mid. I saw him at a meet, the kid was full of himself. It will be interesting to see if the coach will be able to do omething with him. Don't forget there has been a lot of Cali sprinters that have gone to UCLA and lived off of thier reputation in high school. It's a whole new ball game.

Not to answer my own question, but here's his own web-site, so why does T&FN, among others, call him Kederis?

Re: Who says white men can't sprint?
Let me answer your question with a question: why did Sergey (or Sergei, as some would say) Bubka's passport have Serguey on it? Because whoever transliterated from the Cyrillic didn't understand the conventions well enough.
Similarly, it has generally been the policy of statisticians to ignore transliterations (even from athletes themselves) if they appear to be "wrong." Having said that, I have no idea how to transliterate to get Kenteris or Kederis. Or why ATFS has athe Greek high jumper as Bakoyianni when she had her own website saying Bakogianni. (I've purposely ignored the diacriticals here.)
