Did Canada miss the Pan Am Games?

Looking at the medal totals over the weekend, I saw the large lead by the USA followed by Cuba. Canada's total looked anemic. Are they usually this low, or are they attending another world class meet?

Some of their top athletes were in the Northern Hemisphere Games, while others opted for the Arctic Perimeter Championships.

I understand their sprinters were at the Himalayan Open. The lanes were a little icy, but with the off-mountain winds, 10000' altitude and downhill track, several got the A qualifer.

eastern canada now competes in just the francophone games; western canada now competes just in the asian games

I don't know how the track and field medals stack up but the total medals are as follows:
1. US-population 300 miilion plus-153
2. Cuba-population unknown but state sponsored sports program-107
3. Canada-population 30 million plus-68

I'd say that the totals stack up pretty favourably.

MJD..........with Brazil at 175+ million, Argentina at 30+ million and Cuba using the latest East German technology Canada appears more competitive than I thought. It might be interesting to see just the Track and Field medal breakdown to date and compare those totals.
