Wasn't Veronica dinged at the NCs? Seemed like both she and Asafa had some leg miseries coming out of the meet. Powell agravated his, Veronica soldiered on. She'll be okay.

Yeah, anyone else know more details about Campbell's injury and fitness? My impression is that she's not 100%.

Well VC has the commonwealth next year to regain some of the lustre lost this year. I think it should raise the fire for the 200m in 2007.

                Re: w200m

There is no doubt that VC will beat Felix over 200m in the coming years. She just needs to change her coach. I would suggest that she links up with Merlene Ottey. If she does, I guarantee you that she will beat Felix. I don't think Merlene would reject her. There is a conflict of interest where her current coaching situation is concerned. I hope she wakes up soon.

In some parts of the world, we used to call Merlene Ottey 'Ms. Bronze.'

                    <<Marion WHO?>>

That still has yet to be determined. Except for Inger Miller (21.77 in 1999), no one, since 1995, other than Marion, has broken 22.00. If Z├╝rich has the 200 this year, Allyson should run it...

...But then again, I'm itching for her to enter the 400 and drop her PR by a wide-enough margin to give both Sanya and Tonique cramps on the final stretch.

Don't expect AF to be standing still, she is getting better every year. Her time on this track and after the rounds is pretty impressive. I am not sure that she will break 22 this year, as she may have focused primarily on the WCs and start tapering back soon. Next year I would expect her to get lucky at least once and give us the first sub 22 of the true new millenium.

Waiting for what? VC is the olympic champion, Felix got silver. This rivalry has been going on for two years already.

                          She 100% fit.
However, she was injured (her fault, she said so herself) She was training unsupervised in 90+ degree weather in Arkansas and strained her hamstring before the first meet that she pulled out of. She aggravated the injury at national trials. She is fully fit (in that the leg is rehabbed). Of course the time spent to rehab the leg robbed her of valuable training time so she wasn't as sharp as she wanted to be.
She focussed more on the 100 this year (bad move I think). This was obvious in the 200 as she came off the turn so fast she was out of control. Had she run a proper race she could have had a medal, possibly even silver.
why don't people pronounce vowels anymore

Do you think it's impossible for VC to beat
AF? For starters, she is quicker than AF and will always be. All she needs to do is work on her stamina. Remember that AF still hasn't run faster than the 22.05 VC ran last year. I know AF is young and has plenty of time ahead of her, but VC is relatively young also. This will be a rivalry for the next 4 years.
