    Re: w200m

Can VC beat AF? Yes. Will she - in the Big Ones? No. Felix is still on the learning curve that VC has already mastered. The window of opportunity for VC beating AF is already closed, and, barring injury, shall remain so.

You seem so sure that the window of opportunity has already closed. I see no reason VC cannot beat AF in a WC or OG final. It's all about preparation and I don't think VC was properly prepared for this 200M. I am not saying that AF cannot win the 200m in 2007 and 2008. I am saying VC has equal chance of winning in 2007 and 2008.

I hope she does - we need more and better rivalries to keep the interest high. :-)

Is it me or does Felix look like the busts of Nefertiti? Classic good looks.
(they just showed her on the medal stand getting her gold)

breathtaking!... simply breathtaking... to see that utterly frail looking creature pull away from the others is worth playing again and again and again... utterly breathtaking... Nefer-who could not hold a candle in the court of Felix.. .. she is otherworldly beautiful, grace personified.

              >Do you think it's impossible for VC to beat
AF? For starters, she is quicker
              >than AF and will always be<

              that's a very bold statement

vc ran a near-flawless race last year in good sprint conditions for 22.05

af run a slow curve ( she was miles behind coming into the stretch ) & then powered thru for 22.16

no one is going to convince me that if she'd really attacked the curve that she'd have "fatigued away" all that advantage in the stretch

it's a fairly conservative estimate that if she'd attacked the curve, she'd have run probably about 22 flat

                >>This will be a rivalry for the next 4 years.

rudeboy.. good posts here in this thread so don't mean to me negative, but I would rewrite the above as:

"If we are insanely lucky, this will be a rivalry for the next 4 years."

Youth. Injuries. Pressure. Luck-good or bad. Etc. Etc.

Very young, and 4 years is a long time. We will be lucky if both are still in the sport in 4 years; very lucky if they are pushing each other to another level at 200/400m.

                We can only hope.

                Cheers

i see felix still as a "little girl" compared to her potential. the sky is the limit. what a talent.

p.s. there is a dark and evil part of me who does not see her as a little girl but a beautiful woman, but thats another story.
