Jacobs out of Zurich - is she setting up her excuse for Pari

In this mornings USA Today (8/14/03) on page 13C of the sports page it is reported that Jacobs has pulled out of Zurich with a tight calf.

Is this the set up for her excuse for not showing up in Paris or getting knocked out early?

You mean the same Jacobs that won the gold medal at this year's World Indoor Championships? Don't you think t's time to find another reason for ripping Jacobs?

Jacobs doesn't need excuses; her age is her excuse, and don't get me wrong, that's legit, she's amazing at her age. Suzy will soon have this excuse as well; hasn't had much of one previously. Indoors doesn't compare to Outdoors; much less pressure.

Figures - someone bashes Regina before she even gets to worlds. Doubting Thomas is likely a sloth who doesn't even have a calf muscle. I for one hope Regina stays healthy - she a bright light for us aging runners (trust me - the body doesn't recover at 38 like it does at 18).

Indeed Jacobs does have a history of not showing up or showing up and being a shadow of her preexisting form. I suspect that is what "Thomas" was alluding to.

I agree - what happened in 2000 & Edmonton? Great performances prior to the meets (mostly indoor) then either a sickness or injury that kept her out or getting knocked out very early. I for 1 will not be shocked of she does not show or gets knocked out very early

Normally, I'd just strike that kind of message because it makes an "unfounded accusations/ suggestions." But I've seen this suggestion other places and it is just foolish. She won World Indoors. She won USATF Indoors and Outdoors. While I don't know about testing protocals for USATFs, I know Worlds tests the winner (including at indoors). So your argument simply doesn't hold water.
