Won't be in the Paris 100! Devers should let Christie run instead.

Maybe Chryste should have run faster at the U.S. nationals?

        For Gaines, =PR, (=10, x A).

I agree it would be nice if Devers would let Gaines run the 100. Devers really has no realistic chance of doing anything other than making the final and finishing in the top 6 if she is lucky. She would be much better off to concentrate on the hurdles and carry off a gold and maybe an American record, and let Gaines have a shot at being World Champion. Gail already has 2 Olympic dash golds and another World Champs dash gold to go with it, and she has a unique opportunity to be truly sporting and let her countrywoman join her as yet another American to conquer the world at 100 metres.

If Devers gives up her spot, it goes to Inger Miller. Miller was 4th, Gaines 5th at nationals.

good point micheal lewis. it has been rare that an athlete has given up his or her spot for poor form with the chance somebody else could have a better chance. quincy watts gave up his spot in 91 to danny everett in the 400 and everett wind up with a bronze medal. watts run the relay only and got a medal there. very nice move for him then. it is possible devers might do the same since she has been really patriotic and unselfish towards her teamates in the past. but unfortunately miller finished 4th and i seriously doubt she would give up what could be her last or next to last chance at a major meet.
