Dragila, Hysong To Compete At UTEP Twilight
EL PASO, Texas -Olympic gold medalist and world record holder Stacy Dragila
and gold medalist Nick Hysong will compete at the UTEP Twilight at Kidd
Field Saturday.
Dragila holds the world record in the pole vault with a best of 15-9 1/4
(4.81). The first-ever female gold medalist in the pole vault, she is a
six-time U.S. Outdoor and two-time world champion.
Last weekend, Dragila vaulted 15-1 3/4 (4.62) to win the Drake Relays. The
jump is the best in the world this season.
Hysong returns to El Paso for the second time this year. He won the pole
vault UTEP Invitational with a mark of 18-4 1/2 (5.60). Hysong also won the
Drake Relays last weekend with a height of 18-8 3/4 (5.71), which is tied
for fourth best in the world in 2002.
The native of Phoenix, Ariz., holds a lifetime best of 19-4 1/4 (5.90).
The meet will begin with the field events at 3 p.m., followed by the running
events at 6 p.m. The women's pole vault will start at 4 p.m. and the men's
pole vault is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Admission for the event is free.
