  • Todd Williams Appearance at Howard Community College

    Aug 27th 7:15-8 pm

    The Howard County Striders and the Howard County Junior Striders are hosting two time Olympian, Todd Williams to talk at the Howard Community College on Wednesday August 27th 7:15-8:00 pm. All Striders should have received a flier insert with the fall weekly schedule.

    To quote from Stan Ber's column in the Columbia Flier:
    "Todd was one of America's premier distance runners in the 1990's. He is a former Michigan high school state champion in track and cross country and a track star at the University of Tennessee. He placed 10th in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics in the 10,000 meters and ninth in the World Cross Country Champtionships. He won the 1996 Olympic Trials in the 10,000 meters."

    Todd will speak on a variety of running related topics including incorporating running into your busy daily life no matter what level runner you are. Please come out (admission is FREE) to hear one of the top athletes in our sport speak.

    Todd Williams is on another level when compared to today's US distance runners.

      Todd, like Kennedy and Croghan, had it figured out. He new what it takes to compete at a World Class leveland did it. Unfortunately, his career, like so many others having to train at that level, had his career cut short by injury.

      He was one tough guy.
