that conversion is with the standard 1.08 factor used for converting between 1.5k/1M races & 3k/2M races

however, svetly had superb 1'56.04 speed that year, which makes that conversion slightly ungenerous to her - i get a figure more like

    ~3'53.6

it's a bit pedantic to quibble over ~ 2/10, but at this rarified level, she shoud fight for every 0.01s which is her due !

svetly's 4'12 wr is intrinsically far superior to bouly's time - if she'd run a 1.5k that day instead, her time wouda been ~ mid-3'53

imho, the actual 1.5k wr is svetly with ~ 3'53.5

obviously marion jones's mark is considered questionable because of the balco scandel, but specifically which of the others are questionable, too?

desire to get rid of bad calls on flat throws, so new implement basically always lands point-first

if they hadn't changed the women's jav specs, that record would have outlasted dirt.
tell me now, why did they change the women's javelin? it's not like they were hitting 100 m like the men's.

The ironic thing is that there are question marks against several of the names you have mentioned above. I don't agree that Koch's run was poorly executed - she only tied up at the end and she had been running at a faster pace than ever before, plus there was a headwind in the home straight and no-one close to her. You must be very difficult to please!

Yeah, but Felke had "stuff" in her that Menendez does not.

Trine Hattestad is a good example here - WC with the old spec, WR and OG with the new. Her pbs were 72.12m and 69.48m respectively (set 7 years apart). Even allowing for the fact that Menendez probably hasn't peaked yet, I'd doubt she has those Felke-esque throws in her.

    Edit - sp
