which makes White's slow-starting 10.85 even more impressive.

As I noted going in, track pretty spongy (Bekele says, "domo arigato" or something like that).

Only the second time a WC 100 has been won over 10 seconds. Equaled Lewis from Helsinki '83 as slowest winner ever.

I think the times were affected by the competitiveness of the event. Nobody had the luxury of cruising in the quarters and semis to save themselves for the finals. Some of those quarterfinals and semifinal draws were BRUTAL.

I suspect that the final Grand Prix meet of the season will produce a sub 10 sec winner and the winner could be any of the top six finishers at the Worlds or even any one of Capel, Gatlin or Powell.

Yes, the M100m was close but the times were unimpressive--and no negative wind. It's always disapointing when people run 10.04 in opening rounds and then the final is slower.

Maurice limps after every race. It's become a habit just in case he needs a quick excuse for losing.

Have places 1-6 ever been so close (.06)?

Don't know, but the race reminded me of the women's final in Barcelona '92, 1-5 all within 0.06, though today's men's race was even closer.

Just watched it. It hurt to look at him in the slow motion replay keying on him. He basically pulled up with some kind of injury in the last 10 yards.

How about renaming the Cal-Berkely Marching Band to be the Drummond Bugle Corps?

    (sorry, bad one....)

If he'd gone to Berkely, they'd have erected a bldg. in his name, or changed the name of one already there to "Drummond Hall."

Of course the Drummond statue would be laying flat on the ground!!!

Sad day for U.S. sprinting. Jon Drummond's behavior. (But then, this isn't exactly the first time a U.S. sprinter has been an embarrasment to the country he represents.)

That must have been a great finish. Have places 1-6 ever been so close (.06)?

BW and TM ran well, they just came up on the short end of the stick today. It's not like they got blown away. All season the 100 has been a crapshoot.

It's a tad premature to announce that Monty is done. Today he was just .04 away from WC gold and he set the WR less than one year ago!

Greene might be done. In the semi photo finish, he personifies defeat.
