  • Who's gonna run the 4x100

Eurosport is reporting that Montgomery left France. So we got no Montgomery, Greene, or Drummond??

    Anyone know about this?

Doesn't bother me; they're all running so badly (or misbehaving) that we're probably better off without them. That is, if we have enough people left in France for a full team. I propose drafting some of the 800/1500 guys.

Seriously though, Montgomery and Greene need to get their heads on straight and Drummond should simply quit the sport. Drummond's antics have always exceeded his performance and it has become a tired act, to say the least.

              having computer problems, sorry.

to continue, what is going on here ??!!

If he has indeed left, that is just unbelievable, even if he left just for a few days. Surely he was going to be a major player on the 400R team and they whould be practicing.

Montgomery is obviously in pretty darn good form, he ran fairly well.

I will hold back any major negative comments until this "leaving" is confirmed, but if it is...

Yeh, the US wont win the 4x400 by more than 4 sec!
Suspect they will be able to throw together 4 guys who can break 38, also.
Women's 4x100 will be a breeze if they get the baton around. Despite no 400 finalists, The US women will be on the medal stand in the 4x400. All those HS and Collegiate 4x4's prepare US relay runner better than the rest of the world.

The only problem I see is lack of bodies to run the rounds, not lack of talent left.

Curiously, I think the team is actually stronger now that they have left. John Capel and JJ Johnson are more than capable replacements and these guys have actually been practicing.

Greene is a cripple these days and I am always nervous with Tims handling of the baton.

Capel, Williams, Patton and JJ Johnson are more than capable of running 37.7ish

Re: Who's gonna run the 4x100

assuming Montgomery left town on his own, for no reason other than he is upset at his performance in the 100, that is just horrible behavior and a traitorous act, particularly with Greene hurt and Drummond gone. I thought he was on a TEAM (USA) and also on a RELAY TEAM ( 400r) and he just goes home???!!!

                        Quitter.

Marion, you sure can pick 'em.... now you are 0 for 2.

Question, so if Greene, Monty, and Drummond left, can the US add people the the relay pool? I'm sure Gatlin and Mickey Grimes are still fresh and ready to run. A team of Grimes, Williams, Miller, and Gatlin can get the US through the rounds and semis with no problems. They can probably run sub 38 as well.

When was the last time the US couldn't field a relay team. Was it 1972 (4x4)? Got a feeling Paris '03 is next. Peace.

I'd go with Capel for his curve start expertise, then Grimes, JJ Johnson and Gatlin.
