Here is a cryptic post to the Can list. I'm sure we'll all get to see it on ESPN2 and CBC-not.

"For the most entertaining race of the Championships you need to watch the 3000m SC

That is all I will say."

At the very least it looks like Qatar's investment paid off pretty quickly.

Yeah, the Eurosport text description makes it sound bizarre.

This race was the most entertaining race I have seen in years, if not ever. You must see it too understand.

          Re: Steeple/ 5000m

This may have implications for those of you in the contest. There has been a recent release in which Stephen Cherono has indicated that he will be contesting the 5000.

This race has suddenly gotten more interesting.
El G vs Chebli vs Bekele vs Cherono

          Hmmmm.

And they are going to show it on the CBC they just said and that is after only giving the 1st and 3rd all time women 5000 Canadian performances basically no coverage.

              Re: Steeple

This 5km is shaping up as the deepest feild of the champs.
I hope all thinking about running run.
When has the worlds dominant cross country and distance track runners faced the wrath of the most dominant and fastest ever miler.
I would just love to see Geb, eneter and sacrifice himself for beekele. If he just went straight to the front and started clicking of 60 sec laps. Most of those guys are sub 12.50 capable it would be great to see the Ethiopians try and run the kick out of every one.

MJD or someone. For us poor deprived sloths living in the Midwest with nothing but this board as a lifeline, what happened in the race?

                  Re: Steeple

wow the guy who was formerly Stehpen Cherono (no idea how to spell or say his new name) outkicked Kemboi over the last 50m. It was an awesome race. On the fifth lap? Kemboi sprinted almost 200m to catch up to Cherono and you could tell that he was doing it to try and preserve Kenya's tradition in the event. They then traded the lead and Kemboi slowed it down enough for the pack to come back. They then battled the whole last lap which was a 57 and Kemboi looked like he would win off of the last hurdle but didn't quite have it.

                    Re: Steeple

Saw the last 4 laps, The 2 leaders were about 25 meters ahead of the chase pack. It was bizzare watching the 2 last laps. The Kenyan kept using his energy to run in front ,then almost slow to a jog to bring these 2 back to the pack . Great finish, the politics of the "hired gun" was interesting to watch. All this talk about the bad sportmanship of certain North American athletes. Now we were witness to Kenyan's losing in "there event". Pretty shabby display by the 3 Kenyan athletes after the race, no hand shakes no smiles.
