Putting the Frenchman in his place for trashtalking may have its valid points, but the 3-5 finish by the French is nothing to sneeze at. They seem to be outdoing even the Jamaicans these days- Blackwood being the exception. And the British are no longer to be found.
I'm always amazed at the Poles the last few years- they have put together some big time 4x400 relays, but don't have any individual stars!Comment

Another exciting race. Man those Frenchmen were really finishing fast. They shot past Calvin Harrison like he was standing still and really closed on the leaders.
4 x 400m is an entirely different event. With the home crowd support the French could conceivably become a threat. They have the option of adding Diagana and their 1.44 half miler to their team if they make the finals. Some guys who can't run a half decent race out of the blocks become relay demons with a baton in their hand. I remember some great legs by Jamaican Davian Clarke (he closed down Tyree Washington at World Indoors, and anchored Jamaica to a win at the recent Pan Ams circling the US anchorman could have been either Potter or Davis). I even remember an obscure Cuban dismissing Michael Johnson in the Barcelona Olympics.Comment

Who is Jerome Young's current coach? I know at one time he used to work with Pettigrew.
His build up to the championship has been excellent. Loss of another great athlete by the Jamaicans. If all that talent had stayed home (Sanya Richards, Suzian Reid, etc.) some of those relay events would be really interesting.Comment

A GREAT DAY FOR JEROME YOUNG AND THE AMERICANS. NOT ONLY DID HE WIN BUT HE DID NOT TALK ANY TRASH AND GAVE CREDIT WHERE IT WAS DUE, DESPITE WHAT COUNTRY THEY ARE FROM. WHAT A CLASSY GUY. I AGREE WITH SPRINT/HURDLE SAVE JEROME AND TYREE FOR THE FINALS. I THINK HE DESERVES IT AND HAS PAID HIS DUES. I REMEMBER WHEN HE WAS REPLACED ON THE RELAY AT THE OLYMPICS EVEN THOUGH HE FINISHED AHEAD OF HIS REPLACEMENT IN OUR U.S.CHAMPIONSHIPS. JEROME IS ONE OF THE MOST DESERVING ATHLETES. I WISH HIM CONTINUED GOOD FORTUNE AND HOPE HE DOESN'T CHANGE. IT'S GREAT TO HAVE A CHAMP WHO ACTS LIKE ONE .Comment

jerome's new coach is the great RAYMOND STEWART.
they train out of fort worth, tx. now. jerome
started with george williams (st. aug's) & antonio
pettigrew and the moved to tevor graham and now
with raymond. THIS IS THE FIT THE JEROME WAS LOOKING FOR IN A COACH. this is jerome first
season with raymond and this is his best season
since 98-99 when he ran 44.09 and broke the world
record with michael and antonio and tyree, in 4x4
at the commonwealth games. carribbean guy, i don't feel bad for all the jamaican athlete's that leave for the US. most of all your athlete's
come up to the US. to go to college and train. so
there doing it because it's a better situation for
them. you should be happy for those who do. tell
me one of the guy's on the jam. 4x4 team that will
run in the final's that didn't go to college in
the us. they get all there training here and education and run for a different country. be happy for the USA helping them out.Comment

FOR RANDY,
the french are running well, but they don't
have the depth that US does. the only thing that
they have going for them that the meet's in paris.
d. clarke from jam. has alot of experience in
the 400m and 4x4, so he will run down alot of
people. plus, the french ran 3-5 in the 400m,
the USA ran 1-2-6. jamica will be there in the
4x4 and don't forget russia and greece. but
i don't think anyone can beat US.Comment
