  • Elite Team in Colorado Springs???

I really want to start an elite running team here in Colorado Springs and am seeking insight into the club set-up, etc. I have tons of notes I have taken through the years but some fresh insight would help. Some questions below to help. Feel free to comment on anything though.

What would the benefits for the athletes be?
    - Free housing
    - Access to massage, physical therapy, nutritionist, sport psychologist, coaching (discounted health care/insurance)
    - Travel and entry fees to races
    - Training Gear (athletes can have their own shoe sponsor but we have a program too.)

What would be the benefits to the sponsors (companies who donate money to make this possibile)?
    - Logo on singlets, website, etc (Exposure)
    - Tax deductible
    - Helping Elite American athletes---goodwill

    How can athletes earn money?

    - John at CRC had a great idea where investors would purchase fixer-uppers and the athletes would fix them up and split the profit.
    - Connections with local companies who need part time workers (not too physical)

How can this elite team promote health and fitness?

This is your basic 500-pound gorilla. People have been working hard to find (significant) sponsors for club teams for decades now. They're few and far between, and those who do come aboard rarely last more than a year or three, clearly feeling they're just not getting enough bang for their buck.

They're going to want major names promoting their product, and what can do you do about that when the big shoe companies already have the marketable talent locked up? It's a horrid-horrid two-edged sword.
