  • Way to go Jenny Adams!

Nothing gets me pumped up for my daily run like watching Jenny Adams! She was on my high school track team and never ran out of enthusiasm, drive, or encouragement for her teammates. She NEVER gave less than 200% in meets or even practice! It's great to see such a hard worker achieve so much. Way to go Jenny!

She first came to my attention when I saw her at the NCAA meet at Duke a few years ago. She did a great double in the hurdles and the long jump. Don't remember if she won both but if not she came close. But she was obviously very noticeable as she perhaps the only white girl out there in either event.

That is NOT a racist comment, it's just the reason I first noticed her.

Like the 99 % of the USA athletes ( one exception at least ! hint: was on men's 100m team ) she seems like a great person.

      Whoa.
I didn't think it was humanly possible for anyone to give, like, more than 180%. How does she do it?

Sarcasm aside, I'm a big Jenny fan too. Would have been nice to see her come close to her PR and squeeze out a medal, but she deserves props anyway. Perhaps if she lowered her percentage to around 100 - 110 she would have run 12.65. )

Well the person who started the thread did go to high school with her so we can't read too far into that.

While I don't think this thread is guilty of discriminating, it's a good point about Adams getting the attention. I don't follow the women's hurdles, and the only reason I know of Jenny Adams is because she stands out as a white girl, but I'm still ashamed to admit that I didn't even know the black girl's name! I was also afriad that ESPN would interview Adams rather than McKelvy after the final, but fortunately they did good and gave McKelvy her due attention.

Jenny Adams gets major attention for the same reason Suzy FH does: in addition to being world class, in the eyes of most raging heterosexual males she's a major babe.

                  MR. PRESIDENT,

I DON'T THINK IT HAS ANYTHING TO DO ABOUT
NOT GIVING MIESHA HER PROPS. I'M A BIG MIESHA
FAN AND PERSONNEL FRIEND OF DONICA MERRIMAN. BUT
I'M HAPPY FOR JENNY ADAMS. SHE'S LIKE THE NEW
KID ON THE BLOCK. ALL THE FOCUS WAS ON GAIL
AND MIESHA, AND VERY LITTLE FOCUS ON JENNY. SO
SHE DID GREAT, DIDN'T WIN ANYTHING BUT HAD A GREAT
SHOWING AND DID HERSELF GOOD. THAT'S ALL. JUST
LIKE A NEW PLAYER ON ANY TEAM. IF THEY HAVE A
GREAT SEASON OR GAME, THEY GET ALL THE ATTENTION.

HEY, JEROME YOUNG JUST WON THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, BUT IN THE PRE-RACE TALK, ALL CAROL
LEWIS TALKED ABOUT WAS TYREE AND CALVIN. REALLY
NOBODY KNOWS ABOUT JEROME. TYREE IS THE NEXT
MICHAEL AN CALVIN GETS ALOT OF ATTENTION BECAUSE
OF HIM AND HIS BROTHER AND HOW THEY GOT THERE.

JEROME, HAS BEEN ON ALL MAJOR RELAY TEAMS
FOR THE LAST 5 YRS. (UNLESS INJURY) HE'S A WORLD
RECORD HOLDER, OLYMPIC AND WORLD CHAMPION IN
THE 4X4 (INDOOR INCLUDED) A 2 TIME NATIONAL CHAMPION. HAS A PR. OF 44.09, AND HAS RAN SOME
OF THE FASTEST SPLIT ON THE USA RELAYS EVER. BUT
IT TOOK HIM WINNING A WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TO FINAL
                  GET HIM SO NOTICE.

SO JENNY ADAMS IS GETTING SOME GOOD ATTENTION
THAT'S IT, GOOD FOR HER AND THE SPORT. THERE
WAS NOTHING SAID ABOUT RACE, JUST HER RACE!!!!

Re: Way to go Jenny Adams!

Let's keep this about track. Miesha McKelvy ran a 12.57 100 meter hurdle race to earn a silver medal in the World Championships. Jenny Adams ran a 12.67 100 meter hurdle race, earned a bronze medal in the World Champioships. Both for the USA. I figure many individuals who post here have competed and have been very successful in track and field and know that it takes a great deal of blood, sweat, tears, sacrifice, determination and faith to go along with GOD-Given ability to be successful. So I say Kodos to both young ladies. Our country is in good hands when it comes to hurdling. I personally believe Donica Merriman will be the best of the bunch. (To Garry Hill: If you l think Adams is gorgeous, when you see Merriman youjust may hyperventilate).

Yes, of course, you're entirely correct. We need to keep this discussion on the high road--it's about ability, dedication, and character rather than superficial things. Thank you for the reminder.

Oh yes, and did I mention how exactly right GH is?

time hurdler, ran 12.65 earlier this year, hurt
her knee going into nationals. but is ok now.
just ran 12.71 earlier and beat miesha. so she
coming on. also she is very pretty and is a
                          wonder person also.
