Re: Not so good in the Pole Vault
But the competition itself is really hot. Anyone who isn't following the live results on www.iaaf.org should go there right away. This Gibilisco guy from Italy is having a clutch performance. Missed two tries at 5.75, passed, and then nailed 5.80 and 5.85 on first tries."Run fast and keep turning left."

Re: Not so good in the Pole Vault
Gibilisco did it again! (5.90, another PR, first try.) Man, he has to be totally buzzing right now. Performance of a lifetime! I realize he isn't a total unknown (T&FN had him picked 9th), but I've never heard of him. I bet the faves are scratching their heads right now."Run fast and keep turning left."

Re: Not so good in the Pole Vault
Markov just passed, too. He's in an all-or-nothing spot. If he makes this next jump, he's in position for gold. If he misses, no medal at all. Damn this is exciting!"Run fast and keep turning left."

Re: Not so good in the Pole Vault
Whew! Markov, sitting in fourth, passed on his last jump at 5.90! Had he made it, he would have moved into silver medal position, and been assured of a bronze. As it is, if he misses 5.95, he's out of the medals.
Of course, a clearance at 5.95 could give him the gold . . .
Great competition!
