White as White can be

I am in South Africa on business.

Yesterday morning I turned on the TV and was excited to see coverage of a track meet.

First event I caught was the 110-meter high hurdles.

It was was a full field.

Imagine my surprise when I saw that every competitor in the field was white! I'd never seen anything like that anywhere in America, from when I competed in high school and college to the present day as a fan.

My first thought was "This must've been what it was like in Germany when Hitler was running the show."

It must have been a domestic meet, that was closed to non South Africans. These days a few non South Africans enter there off season meets. I recall Johnson doing a sub 20 at one of their meets........
