I did see something about Covid. I also read that Chepkoech might be somewhat undertrained.

Going out on a limb here ... I think Karsten gets the WR on Friday night!! 46.64 I'll say.

We saw what a beast he was at the Impossible Games and I've long had the impression he's not the type to need competition to run fast.

Also, Joshua Cheptegei is apparently attempting to break Kenny B's 5000 WR. This would be the first attack on the men's 5000 record for 16 years! This is presuming though that the Ugandans have clearance from their government to travel. There was some doubts about this a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, I'll say that without someone like Barega, Kejelcha or R Kipruto to push him he misses it and runs 12:42-ish.

So did Sam get to Europe via military transport/arrangements?

as noted earlier, athletes can get business-related exemptions (but have to pass tests).

I really want to see Bol run under 51 in the 400m. She starts slow, so I'd love to see her open a bit more aggressively too....

Liked the article on home-page about how Mondo's poles had to go on a 25-hr car-ride from Sweden to Monaco.

Pretty pumped for tomorrow. The athletes should be extra-pumped too!

That's a bummer, will be interesting to hear if it's injury or travel issues.

I disagree with Ato's call. GH has always led most of his races, but does have trouble holding his speed at the end. Good race, though.
Four under 13.20 is a great start.

Apparently his poles haven't arrived in Europe.

Valentin Lavillenie withdrew because he tested positive to Covid.
