              Re: men's 200m

If "Doc" (I'm guessing you mean Patton) is first across the line, why wouldn't I look at him?

I hope John Capel gets his ass busted by Fredericks..... sorry to root against America's best hope but I really don't like the guy. He thinks this is the NBA where he can score points with the fans by acting an ass

I have to pull for Fredricks too, although, if I put aside my "hopes", I would have to go with Patton--he looks dang good. Sub-20 to the winner.

for those who said that the race wouldn't be no where near under 20...care to rethink that?

I'm still not sure between Patton and Capel...20.03 was not only a p.r. for Patton but just looked so easy. Capel looks like he has a lot left in the tank as well. Right now I'm gonna go Patton then Capel.

Welcome all to the Darvis "Doc" Patton bandwagon. I have been telling you all since June that he is the real deal.

                          Re: men's 200m

patton did well last summer in what seemed to be his first serious summer season. capel has always had tremendous talent and should have never left for football. buckland is an outsider and could surprise. the japanese cant go any faster than he has already. everybody likes frankie, but i doubt he will even medal in what could be his last big meet race. jj johnson is stuck in lane one, with his height he has no chance to do anything from there. i think it is between capel and patton woth buckland third.

If Patton and Capel are caught sleeping on that turn, keep an eye on Suetsugu (whom Capel was looking at as he crossed the line in the semi). If he comes around that turn faster than he did in that 20.03 he ran earlier this summer, and holds it down the straightaway, the U.S. will have a lot more than Kenteris to worry about next year.

                              Start list for the final:

                              1 1407 Johnson Joshua J. USA 20.05 19.88
                              2 513 Campbell Darren GBR 20.34 20.13
                              3 960 Buckland Stéphane MRI 20.06 20.06
                              4 1422 Patton Darvis USA 20.03 20.03
                              5 766 Suetsugu Shingo JPN 20.03 20.03
                              6 1383 Capel John USA 20.17 19.85
                              7 974 Fredericks Frank NAM 20.23 19.68
                              8 1006 Emedolu Uchenna NGR

Also known as.... JJ is toast! (after his first 50m in the semis, he was lucky to get in anyway). Note that the Doc will have Suetsugu (and Capel) in his sights. This is all the edge he needs (and maybe he didn't need one). Capel doesn't seem to be exhibiting a lot of top-end staying power. And his attempted stare-down of Suetsugu-san was incredibly bush league.

                              Dark horse pick: Buckland
