  • Who's left for Men's 4x1?

good article here. It looks like the remaining 5 have an excellent attitude. The handoffs are obviously critical, but I like what I'm reading.

I think that team has run together before. More important, they have good attitudes & they're (for now) faster than the guys who left. Barring bad exchanges, America will still win.

Okay, the U.S. drew lane 2 (actually being used as the "inside lane") in heat 1 tomorrow morning.
The U.S. entered Dwight Phillips, Bernard Williams, Darvis Patton, and Terrence Trammell.

      Whadaa ya think?

Is being on the "inside" an advantage?

Dwight Phillips? I know he has sprinters speed, but wouldn't you run a guy like Coby Miller on that tight turn in lane 2? I hope the team is Capel,Williams,Patton, and JJ Johnson. They are all running as fast or faster than the guys we had before(Drummond,Greene, and Montgomery). Good luck! And how did we draw lane 2? You would think we would be one of the favorites and get a 3-6 lane selection.

Ordinarily I wouldn't think Lane 2 would be good for a 4x1 (negotiating a hand-off AND a curve, but these guys have the raw speed to win, so they just need something to run down, and that's what Lane 2 is all about.

I am a little confused about running Dwight Phillips on 1st as well, especially since Coby Miller is about as fresh as they come right now. Makes sense to rest Capel and JJ. Doc Patton, by his own admission, "doesn't get tired" so he should be fine.

They won't necessarily run with Phillips. The USA Women's line-up in the heat sheets this morning (on www.iaaf.org) was not the same as the line-up they used.
