  • Kipchoge?

When you see "Kipchoge" in the headline, do you think Eliud or Keino?

Is there a dividing line by age?

    I keep thinking Keino, but I'm 69.

Sorry, dj. I'm older than you are, but I now think Eliud. I think that's because he's got a PR machine working for him that sets up interviews and otherwise generates stories in the Kenyan media and elsewhere almost every day. Some of it (but by no means all of it) seems tied to Nike's promotion of his shoes. And this has been going on for quite some time now. I come across Kipchoge in headlines all the time, but I rarely read the stories.

        I think Lagat.

Eliud for Kipchoge. Keino for Kip.

I am also 69, but agree with tandfman about the PR keeping E in the news.

It was Keino for me until recently. Social media is now saturated with stories about Eliud with people referring to him as "Kipchoge"

Eliud for Kipchoge and Lagat for Kip.

Great question. As a 66 year-old, if you say Kip, I immediately think Keino. If you say, Bernard, I think Lagat. If you say Kipchoge, I think Eliud. Now, prior to 2003, if you said Kipchoge, I would have thought Keino.

It will always be Keino for me. I saw him run many times, indoors and out. Hard to forget him.
