  • WR Holder Donovan Powell

(in reference to the title "WR Holder Donovan Powell" on the cover of the latest issue)

Okay, I'll be the first to admit that I am in the dark about this, that way I'm less humiliated. I cannot understand how a typo of this magnitude could smuggle itself through revision on the cover of the magazine, so I will guess that Asafa's real name must be Donovan (and nobody knew). By that assumption I insulate myself from the humiliation, the thread will be worthless, and GH can annihilate it.

But if it is a mistake, Mr. Editor, please tell the story...

BTW, why no Editor Column this issue?

To keep in tune with the educational bent of this thread I ask the following question: Is the name Asafa of Ethiopian origin?

Thanks, fellas. I guess I'm so far behind because of how much later my mag arrives. I checked a few times to see if anyone else had said anything, didn't see it, and posted. What a glorious error.

I think his brother's name is Donovan Powell.

He was also a world class sprinter at one point

Have seen the name Asafa referenced as Ethiopian, but don:t have the time to find it. What I have quickly located with reference to the meaning "Asafa" is:

It is traditionally considered to be a masculine baby name. Its bearers are remarkable for their purposefulness, clarity and certainty of their plans as well as their adherence to one idea and one credo. They are strong characters, stubborn and sometimes belligerent. Quite often, they are individualists and sometimes even egotists. Self-confidence, intellectual curiosity, vigour and aspiration for leadership - these are their features
