  • Haven’t checked in on this thread since last weekend and didn’t read all the pages in the interim, but watching the meet from last weekend as we are working out in the basement. This was about the worst coverage of a track meet I’ve ever seen. Yes, I agree that it’s better to have some track on TV than no track at all, but, my god this is embarrassing. I won’t list all the reasons why because everyone else has already spoken to them.

As for what the non-track fan might think after watching the meet, let’s ask Mrs. DrJay.
”Mrs. DrJay, you are a reasonably knowledgeable sports fan. What do you think about the coverage of the meet today?”
“Well, honey, I thought it sucked. If I knew nothing about track and field, I would never watch it again.”
”Well, there you have it. Back up to you, Lewis.”

      • Looking towards the meet today with some good fields, SMU in the 200m should be interesting

She hasn't run an indoor 200m since her freshman year at Georgia in 2013 (or an indoor 400m since 2014 worlds). But she has been active in the 300m, including the WR in 2018.
I wouldn't bet on Ottey's insane 21.87 WR being broken, but I think getting into the top 3 all time is realistic, which take at least 22.26 (Privalova's 22.10 is #2).

Order is restored with Swangard and Boldon back in the booth.

Best thing about Morris competing is she's not commentating...

              • I noticed on one of Crouser's throws his cap fell off. Curious what the rule is there - I assume if it landed out of the ring it would be a foul(all his throws today are listed as legal)

wondering what's up with Clayton Murphy...1:48.....is it just coming off a long layoff or something else?

                    • Very solid meet, much better presentation, good TV. What a fantastic race to finish it off!

Brazier and Hoppel will both break AR this year and threaten going under 1:42.0 outdoors

That explains why there was no m600.

                          Hoppel is da man!

Huh! When I checked the results at the end of the meet, there were none for m600.
