As mentioned in the USA thread, KC Lightfoot took over the World Lead with an NCAA Record of 5.94 only a few hours after Renaud's 5.92.
Other notable PV marks today:
Zach McWhorter (BYU) 5.55
Lisa Gunnarsson (LSU/Sweden) 4.52
Anzhelika Sidorova (Russia) 4.75 WL
Femke Pluim (Netherlands) 4.51 NR
Fanny Smets (Belgium) 4.51 NR
Also yesterday Olivia Gruver pole vaulted 4.60 at the UW Intrasquad meet (though she has finished collegiate eligibility), which I think USATF/World Athletics would not "count" because it was not recognized by the NCAA as a meet, but it did have the full local USATF officiating crew and was very much run to all of the specs of a "real" meet.
Pluim set the outdoor NR in 2015 at 4.55 and the indoor at 4.50 six month later in January 2016. Since then, she seems to have competed every year but not really close to her previous best. Hopefully she still has some more PB left in her this year as she will only turn 27 this year.
She is another ex-gymnast, wisely so, considering she now stands at 1.80 (5-11)!
Smets is ten years older than Pluim but is building on success from last year when she set an indoors NR of 4.40 in February last year. She also holds the outdoor NR of 4.51 set in August 2019, so she now has exactly the same performances indoor and out.
Whether or not the NCAA recognized it as a meet, couldn't USATF have sanctioned it as a meet?
UW could have applied to have their meet sanctioned, but they do not normally do that, and did not do so, and college COVID protocol is different from USATF COVID protocol.
