Did they catch Gidey's split at an hour?
It had to be over 20K, well beyond Hassan's 18930.

She ran 17,030 meters (unofficial), beating the old record by about 535 meters (16,495 meters from 2000).

25th A-T is 17,323 meters, so Alice is maybe 30th or so A-T.
    The American Record---17,930 meters--is by Molly Huddle, and she's 11th A-T!!
Only 7 women have run at least 18,000 meters!

Oh, yeah, I do remember that now - thanks.
Does she have a shot at making our 2022 team? She's off my radar now after a great younger career.
Sisson, Schweizer, Monson, Schneider, Cranny, etc., are formidable talents.

Weini Kelati emigrated from Eritrea seven years ago. After she became a citizen in the nick of time, she will run Saturday's 10,000-meter race for a shot at Team USA.

BOSTON (CBS) — A 24-year-old woman set a new record during a 10K race in Boston Saturday. Weini Kelati, a Flagstaff resident who was born in Eritrea, now holds the new American 10K record for a women’s-only race. It happened at the Boston 10K for Women, presented by REI. This is Kelati’s first professional race. She finished in 31:18, beating the 2015 American record by three seconds.

    Not bad for mid-October.

    - from Carles B.

Also - in one of the the 17 gazillion 5000 and 10000 races in Japan every week, Antipas Kibet (Ken) ran 13:08.58.

NB - CB's blogspot is back. . . . but I can't link it because the botmod sees it as spam.

I agree that 15:55 is probably not a good simulation for a championship race. A better simulation might be running a 1500m time trial (possibly with a male pacer) several hours before a high level 5000m race with runners like Hironaka and Hagitani.

I don't know if this was the intention but I don't see that as a particularly difficult set of marks to hit for a pretty decent runner over that time span.

It doesn't seem unreasonable for someone whose PBs are 3:59, 8:40 & 15:00. If she'd run 15:25 for the 5k instead of 15:55 I would have been surprised.
