If only we could do the same with Javelin (either gender). It's such a beautiful throw to watch but the USA doesn't seem to be assisting in the development of this throw. Perhaps because throwers 'peak' a few years past their graduation from the collegiate system? What a pity.

Olympian and former American record holder Tom Pukstys is training some outstanding Olympic hopefuls with good results so far in the Birmingham/Hoover AL area. It's the USA Javelin Project!

The javelin in s scoring event in Florida high school state meet (this weekend) for the first time in many years. Boys and girls utilize a rubber tipped implement.

Sadly, there is very little expertise to teach the event properly here . . . yet. Most of the kids I've seen are just chucking it like a softball (girls) or football (boys), with not much success.
They are certainly not 'throwing it through the tip'! I do see that clinics are popping up, so that's a good sign.
