  • As we all know, McLaughlin will run the 400H at the Trials and Mu will run the 800, but in the years to come, hopefully we'll have much anticipated showdowns in the 400, if not at championships meets, maybe on the Diamond League circuit. These two prodigies have the potential for a great rivalry over the years to come.

Add Femke Bol to that mix, and possibly a couple of very young Namibian women. The long sprint could be in very good international hands.

Noticed that she no longer places her hands a foot behind the starting line.

Thanks... great news... 222-6 - he's gotta be gaining a ton of confidence at the right time.
On a related note, I noticed Turner Washington is concentrating on the DT only at the Trials (no SP) - setting up a great DT competition. Jagers, Mattis, Finley, Washington have Q... and Williams, Ferguson still in play with a little q.

                • Obviously, he must now be considered to be in the medal mix.

                  • Ferguson is listed in the Status of Entries at 66.19 which I believe converts to around 217 ft which qualifies for the OG.So there are 5 DT now qualified.

I think she was being facetious, not a WR-attempt, just a really good practice jump.

USATF official was there to ratify it. She cleared 4.94 prior for world lead. New personal best.
She had mentioned before she had one last competition before trials. This was it.

Atlanta Track Club facilities in Atlanta, GA. It was part of the American Track League field event competition at Marietta High School, but the weather forced them to move indoors and ATC has a pole vault runway. This was the announcement of the meet from ATL the day before it started: https://twitter.com/americantrack/st...80132097609732

Here is video of Nageotte's 5.94m world lead: https://twitter.com/ATLtrackclub/sta...25485515005954

                              • OK, but to my mind, that crosses over from 'meet' to glorified practice (within the rules, which is why I say 'OK').
