It wasn't an official competition, but I'm assuming the throw was legitly measured, so that's a good sign. Presumably she was still in heavy training mode. If she can improve on that mark in Split next weekend, that to me would be a strong sign she'll be a contender in Tokyo.

      LOL
That should be obvious from the pictures. This year she was chosen as one of the inspiring women from various walks of life who got Barbie dolls made in their likeness (it's called Barbie Shero). A few other T&F women have got theirs in the past - the ones I can remember off the top of my head are Val Adams, Malaika Mihambo and DAS.

I might have more comments on the World Relays after I come back home from Chorzów, but for now I'll just say I was extremely impressed by Natalia Kaczmarek's anchor-leg split of 50.59 in what is very early season by Polish standards and under pretty awful weather conditions. It looks like we finally have an athlete who can replace one of the 4 who formed the core of the 4x4 team for almost a decade now.

Thank you for posting split. Her run was quite impressive and makes getting on the relay team for Tokyo all the greater challenge. I also thought Lesewicz upped her game in the final and ran better.

They need to get married sharpish (yes I know Lesiewicz is still 17), only women with double barrelled names belong on your full strength w4x4 team 🤣

Speaking of which, Kaczmarek has been Konrad Bukowiecki's GF for 2 or 3 years now.

Turns out it WAS an official mark, although she was the only woman competing, with the two other competitors being men.

Chorzów is now officially bidding for the 2025 WC. With the 2023 edition being given to Budapest, I'm not convinced they've got a realistic chance, unless there are no other suitable candidates. But I guess if they want to host, it doesn't hurt to bid now and, if they don't get it, they can have a go at 2027.

European Throwing Cup, Split, day 2
                              wJT
                              1 Maria Andrejczyk 71.40 NR WL (no. 3 on all-time world list, longest throw since 2011, series 71.40 - p - 65.24 - 69.68 - X - 59.73)
Andrejczyk's previous NR was 67.11, set in qualifying in Rio 2016, when she was just 20. She pretty much lost the next 2 seasons after surgeries, started coming back to form in 2019 and reached 65.70 last year, but I definitely didn't see this result coming in her first competition of the year!

Polish selection for women's hammer is going to be tough. Happy to see so many young athletes dong well. Matuszewicz long jump is particularly pleasing as we have been down in that event for a few years. I am speechless on Andrejczyk throw!
