Powell, is Kszczot in any danger of not being selected to the Polish Olympic Team in the 800? Dobek and Borkowski are having great seasons. I assume Lewandowski is all set to run the 1500 in Tokyo.

I guess it's unlikely he will not be selected. The 800/1500 double isn't really doable in Tokyo, so Lewandowski and Rozmys will likely do the 1500 and there's nobody else likely to take the third spot in the 800. There's been speculation about Różnicki's potential this year, but reportedly he's only targetting the junior champs.

                        • What happened to Maria Andrejczyk? Haven't heard anything since her 70+ meter throw in early May.

She supposedly had a slight problem with her shoulder after that competition and wanted to make sure it doesn't get worse. With her losing 2 years due to a shoulder injury after Rio, I can't blame her for wanting to take precautions. At this point, it's totally unclear when she'll compete again. She actually hinted she might not do any competitions at all before Tokyo, but that's just one of the possibilities.

That's only his sixth competition at 85m or better and the first timehe's had three competitions at that standard in a year.

                              His 85m comps are:

                              88.09 in 2017
                              85.63 and 85.72 in 2019
                              87.07 in 2020 and
                              85.12, 89.55 and 86.52 this year.

                              [edited to add 89m throw]

Also, he's competed just 5 times so far this season. While his season opener wasn't very good (he beat a domestic field by a small margin with 79.61), the 82.61 in Gateshead came in very poor weather conditions, where he beat a strong field by a few meters, so it was definitely worth more than its face value. His only loss so far has been to Vetter at the ETC. At this point he really is looking the best of everyone apart from the German.
